With Head Coach Rick Barnes on the helm, the Longhorns have made it into NCAA Tournament during the last 11consecutive seasons.
The Texas Longhorns have played 27 NCAA Tournaments.They have reached the Final Four 3 times, the Elite Eight 4 times, and the Sweet Sixteen 6 times.
The numbers are quite impressive, but the Longhorns basketball programs is still to bring a National Championship to Austin. The team has played in 4 NIT and has won 1 NIT Championship in 1978.
During the 2008-2009 season, the Longhorns went 23-12 overall, and tied for fourth place in the Big12 Conference with a 9-7 record. They defeated Colorado in the first round of the Big 12 Championship, and defeated Kansas State in quarterfinals, but lost to Baylor in the semifinals.
As of mid February 2010 the Longhorns have gone 20-6 overall and sit 6th in the Big 12 standing with a 6-5 record in conference games. There are good chances that they are going to make it into March Madness once again.
