In March 2001 Bob Knight came to Texas Tech to change the teams momentum. The Raiders had not recieved an bid into the NCAA Tournament since 1996.
Knight led the Red Raiders to three NCAA Tournament appearances and one NIT appearance in his first four years at Texas Tech, including an appearance in the Sweet Sixteen in 2005.
The team has appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 14 seasons. They have made it to the Sweet Sixteen 3 different times. Thats their best performance yet.
After Bob Knight's retirement, his son and current coach Coach Pat Knight was picked to stay at the helm. He has some big shoes to fill. In the 2008-2009 the Raiders went 3-13 in conference games and 14-19 overall to finish second to last.
As of mid February 2010 the Red Raiders are 4-7 in conference games and 18-7 overall.
