The Cincinnati Bearcats athletic program joined the Big East Conference in July 1, 2005.
The Bearcats have advanced to post-season play 32 times and have been conference champions in 30 seasons. The team has not earned such a distinction yet in the Big East.
UC’s losses in tournament play have also been noteworthy. Cincinnati has been eliminated from the NCAA playoffs five times by teams which eventually won the title and lost twice to the eventual champ.
The Bearcats won two consecutive National Championship Titles in 1961-1962.
Mike Cronin came in 2006 to take over the Bearcats he had the daunting task of remaking a team. Last 2008-2009 he might just have received the first results from that long effort. The Bearcats made the conference tournament, and made it into the postseason as well.
The Bearcats went 8-10 in conference games and 18-14 overall .The team ended in the lower half of the Big East standings, but this might be one of the toughest conferences in the nation.
