The Huskies basketball program has been quite dominant in their conference in the past few decades.
Veteran Jim Calhoun is in his 22nd year as Head Coach of the Connecticut Huskies' basketball program. He has been quite successful there.
The Huskies have won two National Championships under his leadership in 1999 and 2004.
Additionally, in 1994 the school became the first one ever to have the men’s and women’s basketball team ranked number 1 in the nation at the same time.
The huskies had a good run in 2008-2009 season. They went 27-3 overall and 15-3 in conference play to tie for second place in the Big East Conference standings.
In March Madness the Huskies made it to the Final Four were Michigan State beat them on their way to the Championship Game.
