The Pittsburgh basketball team has been a very thriving throughout the years.

The team has participated in the Conference Championships, has reached the NCAA Final Four as well as two NCAA tournaments, winning two national championships in 1928 and 1930.

Coach Paul Evans captured two regular season Big East Championships and managed to take the team within the top 10 rankings and advanced to five NCAA tournaments and one NIT.

The Panthers inaugurated the Petersen Events Center in 2002 and have played their home games there since.

In 2003-2004 Jamie Dixon became the head coach and the team reached their third straight Big East regular season championship besides a NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance and another Big East tournament championship game. One of the team’s latest success was the trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 2007.
