The school men’s basketball team was created in 1903 and it is known as the Pirates.

The team has achieved a NIT tournament in 1953. They also have won the Big East Conference title twice (1992 and 1993) and the Big East Tournament in the years 1991 and 1993 too.

The Pirates play their home games at the Prudential Center.

There are several former Pirates players that have feature in the NBA among which we can mention: Andre Barrett, Adrian Griffin, Eddie Griffin and Samuel Dalembert.
