Syracuse has been a very successful and steady team throughout the years, the school is a founding member of the Big East Conference.

The team won their first national championship in 1918 and then again in 1926 and the Orange appeared in the NIT Tournaments of 1946, 1950, 1964, 1967, 1971, 1972, 1981, 1982, 1997 and 2002.

Freshmen Carmelo Anthony, Gerry McNamara and Hakim Warrick were key players in guiding the team to their first victory in the NCAA Tournament Championship; Anthony was selected NCAA Basketball Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

Vic Hanson and Dave Bing are two former Syracuse basketball players who obtained a place in Hall of Fame along with Coach Jim Boeheim, the team’s current coach.
