The first season the Old Dominion Monarch’s men’s basketball team had was in the 1930-31 season.
The Monarchs have achieved 4 CAA Tournament titles, 3 CAA Regular Season Championships are ranked in second place among the CAA schools.
Old Dominion men’s basketball have a record of 2-9 while competing in 9 NCAA Tournaments (1980, 1982, 1985, 1986, 1992, 1995, 1997, 2005, 2007).
During the 2006-07 season; the Monarchs have achieved a good record overall of 24-9 and a CAA record of 15 and 3.
More recently just last year the team was ranked 45th in the 2007 RPI Ratings of NCAA.
This 2008-09 the Monarchs are coming strong with quality players, to achieve a good performance in the conference games and a possible insertion in the NCAA Tournament.
