The Towson University athletic teams are members of the CAA Conference since 2001, after being part of the Big South Conference.

The Tigers basketball team have won 3 ECC titles, 2 Big South regular seasons and 1 Mason-Dixon title and also participated in the NCAA Tournament twice (1990 and 1991)

During the 2006-07 season the team had an overall record of 15-17 and a conference record of 8-10, finishing in the 7th place in the CAA.

Among some of the Towson's most recognized rivalries are: Loyola College, University of Vermont, University of Delaware, Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland and College Park.

Towson in the 2007-08 season finished with an overall record of 13-17 and average conference record of 7-11.  The Tigers are expecting a more complete season this 2008-09 in hands of Coach Pat Kennedy.
