The school men’s basketball team is known as the Cleveland State Vikings. The Vikings have been in NCAA Division I since 1972 and since 1994 the Vikings have been part of the Horizon Conference.
Amongst some to the school’s most accomplished coaches are: Ray Dieringer with a record of 150-210, Kevin Mackey with a record of 142-69 and finally Rollie Massimino with a record of 90-113.
The current team’s coach is Gary Waters and assistants Jayson Gee, Larry DeSimpelare, Jermaine Kimbrough, and Bill Buck.
The Vikings have won the conference titles with former conferences in 1985, 1986,and 1993.
The Vikings play their home games at the Wolstein Center. Among some of the players listed in the current roster are: George Tandy, Chris Moore, Cole Norris, and Joe Latas just to mention some. Coach Gary Waters expected a good season with this roster on this period 2008-09.
