The school men’s basketball team is known as the Titans and they are part of the Horizon League NCAA Division I. It is one of the most successful basketball programs in the country.
During the team’s history with Coach Perry Watson led the Titans to 10 winning seasons, three league titles, one NIT Final Four and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
During the season of 1997-1998 and 2000-2001; Detroit had 4 straight 20-winnning seasons winning the conference title in 1998-1999 and the 1994 and 1999 post season tournament.
Additionally, 21 Detroit players have played professionally in the NBA among their names we can mention Willie Green, Terry Thomas, Terry Tyler and Jermanie Jackson.
The Titans play their home games at the Calihan Hall and the team holds a record of 7-23 from the previous season. Coach Ray MacCallum is aiming for a better season this 2008-09.
