The school men’s basketball team is known as the Phoenix and their first year competing was in 1969.

Throughout the team’s history there have been several accomplished coaches such as: Dave Buss who was with the team for 13 seasons followed by Mike Heideman who led the Phoenix for seven season and had a record of 110 wins to 95 looses.

Also, Coach Dick Bennet who had the school’s best record 27-7 during the 1993-1994 season. The team won the only regular season conference title in 1995.

Additionally, we can mention two of the most accomplished Phoenix basketball players Tony Bennet who became a NBA player and later a basketball head coach and Logan Vander Velden another NBA player.

Presently UW Green Bay is in 6th place in the regular season 2007-2008 and an overall record of 15-13.
