The Raiders men’s basketball team was formed under hands of Coach John Ross in 1970.
One of the greatest coaches from Wright State was Ralph Underhill with 18 seasons and who led the Raiders to an amazing 356-162 record. During that time, the Raiders advanced to 8 NCAA Tournaments, including the 1993 Division I Tournament, and a 1983 Division II National Title.
Amongst some of the team’s most accomplished players are: Bill Edwards 1989-1993 an all-time scorer; another player is Vitaly Potapenko who reached the 1000 points club in just 50 games. He was drafted in 1996 by the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Raiders won the 2007 regular season championships and are currently 5-0 all-time at home vs. the top 25 teams. During this season 2007-2008 Wright State is 2nd place in the Horizon League with a record of 21-6. |
