The IUPUI men's basketball team is called the Jaguars and they are members of the Summit League since 1996, when the institution turned to Division I sports.

With the Summit League, the Jaguars have won one regular season title (2006) and one post-season tournament title in 2003 which took the team to their first and only appearance in the NCAA Div I Tournament, to the date.

In the 2007-08 regular season, the team has the 2nd place in the conference standings, with a record of 16-3 and an overall record 25-6.

IUPUI head coach is Ron Hunter, who has been leading the team for the last 14 years and who has been named Mid-Continent Conference Coach of the Year twice.
