Princeton’s basketball team is known as the Tigers and they are the second best team within the Ivy League as they have achieved a total of 23 regular conference championships.
The men’s basketball team is also known as the “perennial giant killer” a heritage from Coach Carril’s career.
For more than a decade (1992-2001) the Tigers reached the NCAA tournament 6 different times and were very dominant in the Ivy League.
Currently; Princeton Tigers are coached by Sidney Johnson (head coach), and assistants Brian Earl and Tony Newsom.
The Tigers are ranked in the Time Magazine among the top strongest College Sports Teams lists as well as in Sports Illustrated.
During last season 2007-08, the Tigers didn’t have a good season ending with a poorly record of 6-23 overall. This season 2008-09, Princeton and its coach Sydney Johnson are working hard to improve in different aspects of the game and getting into a better record this season.
