The school men’s basketball team is known as the Purple Eagles and they are coached by Joe Mihalich.

The Eagles have achieved two regular season conference titles with the MAAC in 1999 and 2005 and two MAAC Tournament titles in 2005 and recently in 2007.

The Purple Eagles' last participation in a NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament was in 2007, being this, their third NCAA Tournament appearance. Their best performance in the tournament was in 1970 when they reached the Sweet Sixteen.
