The Golden Flashes have won five regular season conference titles and four post-season conference tournaments with the MAC.
In the 2007-08 season Kent State won the MAC Tournament once again and the bid to the NCAA Tournament in the #9 seed of the Midwest Regional.
After four previous years as an assistant coach, Geno Ford takes over as the 23rd head coach in the history of Kent State basketball .
Even with a new coach and a new frontcourt this 2008-09 period, the team is still one of the best in MAC, if not the best, to win the MAC title.
