The Bobcats basketball team is one of the Ohio University's most successful programs and they have posted a .565 winning percentage over their 100 year history.
The team has been member of the MAC for more than 60 years and in that time they have won 9 regular season conference titles and four post-season conference tournament titles.
At four different occasions, the Bobcats have been selected for the National Invitation Tournament in 1941, 1969, 1986, and 1995, finishing as runner up in 1941. Additionally, the Bobcats have played in the NCAA Tournament 11 times, which is second most in the MAC.
With a 20-13 record last 2007-08 period, Coach Tim O'Shea was aiming very high for the conference title, but new Coach John Groce comes with many NCAA Tournament appearances this 2008-09 campaign.
