Coppin men basketball team is known as the Eagles and they have been a very successful athletic program in the NCAA Division I.
The Eagles have achieved a total of 10 MEAC regular season titles, besides three MEAC post-season conference tournaments in 1990, 1993, and 1997.
The team has also been invited to two NCAA Tournaments and threw NIT tournaments.
During the 2007-08 season the Eagles had many stat changes; with a 19-23 at the beginning of campaign, they finished with a 7-9 making quality presentation on the conference championship title.
Unfortunately this 2008-09 season they have only one starter back, thus making the recruitment below average for Coach Ron Mitchell.
