The Hornets have achieved the MEAC regular season title in three different occasions in 2005, 2006, and 2007. During the same years in 2005 and 2006, the Hornets also participated in the NIT tournament.
Greg Jackson is the Hornets’ head coach and during his time with the team he has set new school records for overall wins (21), MEAC wins (16) and regular season wins (18). During the 2005-2006 Jackson was selected as MEAC Coach-of-the-Year, basically the first Delaware State coach to earn the award since 1977.
Coach Greg Jackson's team frequently challenges for a top position in the MEAC, but this 2008-09 season the team could take a step back due to its deficient depth and practice.
