The school men’s basketball team which is nicknamed the Rattlers is currently being coached by James H. Ammons and belongs to the MEAC since 1986.

The team has achieved four post season conference tournaments with the MEAC in 1991, 1999, 2004, and 2007.

The Rattlers finished the 2007-08 regular season in the 6th place of the conference, with an 14-16 overall record.

Some of the team’s most accomplished players are:  Jerome James, NBA player and Clemons Johnson, former NBA Player.

The team plays its home games at the Jake Gaither Gymnasium.
