The school men’s basketball team is known as the Spartans and they are coached by Anthony Evans and assistants Lonnie Blow and Robert Jones.

Throughout its history the team has not achieved a regular conference title but their basketball program is very strong and have finished in the first 3 division positions these past years.

The Spartans are coming off a promising 2007-08 regular season in which the team achieved the 3rd place in the MEAC, with an 15-15 overall record and a 9-7 conference record. t

With Coach Anthony Evans, Norfolk State should once again be near the top of the conference this 2008-09 period.
