The school men basketball team is known as the Bulldogs and the it is currently coached by Keno Davis and assistants Chris Davis, Justin Ohl, and Rondell Davis.

The Bulldogs have appeared 3 times in the NCAA tournament and have just won their 4th bid in this season 2007-08 as they won both the regular season and the post-season tournament titles in the MVC.

The last time the team reached the Final Four was in 1969 and the Elite 8 in 1971.

Drake finished the 2007-08 season with an overall record of 28-4 and a conference record of 15-3 at the top of the Valley Conference.
