The school men basketball team is known as the Purple Aces and it is a member of The Valley since 1995.

From 1979 to 1994 Evansville was member of the Horizon League and in that time the team won five regular season titles and three tournament titles.

With The Valley, the Purple Aces have won just one regular season title in 1999.

Evansville has appeared five times in the NCAA Tournament, the last one 1999, and also two times in the NIT Tournament.

For this season 2007-08, Evansville finished with an overall record of 9-21 and 3-15 in the conference placing it at the bottom of the MVC standings.
