The school men basketball team is known as the Sycamores and they have been with The Valley since 1977.
The team won the post season conference tournament in 1979 and 2001 and the regular season championship in 1979 and 2000.
In 1950 the Sycamore’s basketball team became the NAIB National Champions (1950) and were tournament runner ups in the previous years. (1946 and 1948). They were also the NCAA College Division II National Runner-Up in 1968 and the Division I National Runner-Up in 1979. The team have played in a total of 3 NCAA tournaments and two NIT Tournaments.
Under first year head coach Kevin McKenna in 2007-08 season, the team took managed to move in a proper direction.
Aiming for higher .500 mark this 2008-09 period, Coach McKenna brings a quality recruiting class this campaign.
