Greg Oden:
Greg Oden was born on January 22, 1988 in Buffalo, New York. In the 2006-07 NCAA season he started playing for Ohio State University. He attended Lawrence North High School in Indianapolis, where he led them to three straight state titles and 45 consecutive wins under Coach Jack Keefer.
Oden was named PARADE's High School Co-Player of the Year 2005 and 2005 Gatorade National Boys Basketball Player of the Year. He is frequently compared to former NBA star David Robinson in body size and techniques. Oden is known for his quiet and humble performance giving him the profile of a "silent, humble assassin".
Kevin Durant:
Kevin Durant was born on September 30, 1988, in Suitland, Maryland. Durant played for a very successful AAU youth basketball team. Durant's team, the PG Jaguars, won multiple national championships.
Durant later moved on to play AAU ball with fellow McDonald's All American Tywon Lawson for the DC Blue Devils. During this time Durant also starred for the Oak Hill Academy basketball team, which won the 2005 USA Today National Championship.
Right after High School Durant was broadly regarded as the 2nd best high school basketball player from the class of 2006 and currently plays for the Longhorns under Coach Rick Barnes.
Through January 31, 2007 he is averaging 25 points per game and 11.6 rebounds a game. His college career high for scoring is 37, which he has achieved on three occasions.
Brandan Wright:
Brandan Wright was born on October 5, 1987 in Nashville, Tennessee. He began playing for the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2006-07 season.
Wright, 6'9" tall and 205 lbs, is a freshman power forward. He is leading the Tar Heels with just 20 games with 1.7 blocks per game, 15.2 points per game, and 6.4 rebounds per game.
He has scored in double figures in each of his first 18 games as a Tar Heel, making him the second freshman Tar Heel in the last twenty years to complete that achievement behind Rashad McCants.
Joakim Noah:
Joakim Simon Noah was born on February 25, 1985 in New York City. He is a 6'11" player and currently plays for the University of Florida.
Noah was the MVP of the NCAA Tournament's Minneapolis Regional after leading the Gators over top-seeded Villanova in the final game with 21 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
On April 3, 2006, Noah led the Gators to a 73-57 win over UCLA for the school's first NCAA Basketball Championship, and was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four.
Spencer Hawes:
Spencer Hawes was born on April 28, 1988 in Seattle, Washington. Hawes played center at Seattle Prep, where he led his team to win the state championship for the 2005-2006 season and was named the tournament MVP.
He might have entered the 2006 NBA Draft if the NBA had not enacted a latest rule requiring players to linger a year after their class graduates from high school.
Following the 2005-2006 season, Hawes was chosen as an Associated Press All-American, McDonald's All-American, Parade Magazine All-American, and USA Today All-American.
He was named 2006 Gatorade Boys Basketball Washington Player of the Year and Seattle Times player of the year.
