The North Dakota State University men's basketball team is called the Bison.
The team turned to Division I basketball in 2004 and remained as an independent team until it was accepted in the Summit League in July 1, 2007.
The biggest achievements of the team as a Division I program have been winning of an upset victory over the #13 ranked Wisconsin on January, 2006 and the victory over Marquette on their home court on December, 2006.
North Dakota State head coach is Saul Phillips, who was hired in March 26, 2007, after been a team's assistant coach the team for 3 years, under coach Tim Miles.
