The Blue Devils men’s basketball team had their first season in 1934. In 1986-1987 season they made the transition to the NCAA Division I.
The Blue Devils have participated in 3 national tournaments in Division I in 22 seasons. Before this, they appeared in 6 national tournaments in their 21 seasons with the NCAA Division II and in 10 national tournaments of the 29 seasons played in the NAIB/NAIA league.
The Blue Devils have had 4 NEC Players of the year, Rick Mickens, Corsley Edwards, Ron Robinson and Javier Mojica in the 2006-07 season.
Last season in hands of the NEC Coach of the Year 2006-2007 Howie Dickenman, the Blue Devils finished the season with a record of 16-2 and winning the conference title 2006-2007.
Currently Central Connecticut finished the 2007-2008 season with a record of 14-16 and loosing the quarterfinals of the Conference Tournament against Sacred Heart.
Coach Howie Dickenman is trying to overcome the youth and inexperience problems from the recruiting class this 2008-09 season.
