The Long Island Blackbirds men’s basketball team in hands of Herbert Raubenheimer inherited their first season in 1928-1929.
The Blackbirds had appeared in 3 NCAA tournaments and in the NIT 10 times. The last appearance in an NCAA tournament was in 1997 and in a NIT tournament was in 1998.
One of the greatest coaches in the history of the LIU Blackbirds was Clair Francis Bee, who coached for a total of 21 years and compiling a career record of 412-87. His 82.6 percent winning percentage is the highest of any coach in the NCAA history.
In the season 2006-2007 the Blackbirds finished the season with a record of 10-19 and 6-12 in conference, getting the 10th place. |
