The university’s athletic program is known as the Eagles and they are one of the most prominent sports at Morehead.

The Eagles have gathered nine different regular season conference titles; two during the 1950’s, then three during the 1960’s, two in the 1970’s, one in 1984 and their last one in 2003.

The Eagles also managed to win two post season conference tournaments in the mid 1980’s.

The team is currently coached by Donnie Tyndall who was appointed for the job early in 2006.  He became the 12th coach in the Eagles’ history. Under his leadership the team advanced to a NCAA tournament appearance.

Coach Tyndall comes this 2008-09 season with a superior combination of new recruits and skilled veterans, and since the team put a 3-20 during the 2007-08 period, he is working on formation during the postseason.
