The school’s men basketball team is one of the most successful programs in the Pacific 10 Conference.
The team is known as the Arizona Wildcats and they have achieved 9 regular season conference titles during the last 20 years; besides their four wins in post season conference tournaments.
Since the Wildcats have been coached by Head Coach Lute Olson they have achieved 20 consecutive 20- wins seasons appearing in 23 NCAA tournaments and in the final four in 1988, 1994, 1997 and 2001.
The team has produced many basketball players who have moved to a professional level (NBA), among them are: Mike Bibby, Andre Iguodala, Damon Stoudamire, and Gilbert Arenas.

Some of the team’s strongest rivals are: Arizona State and the University of California especially during the mid 1990’s.
