The university’s men basketball team is known as the Golden Bears and they are one of the most successful programs within the conference.
The Golden Bears have achieved a whole lot of regular season championships mainly during the early years from 1916 to 1960.
The team’s current coach is Ben Braun who is in his 12th season with Cal university. Under his lead the Golden Bears have become one of the strongest team in the country.
Additionally, Coach Braun is presently in 10th position among all Division I coaches ranking. He has led the Golden Bears to five NCAA tournaments berths besides the 1999 NIT championship victory. |
The team plays its home games at Haas Pavilion Arena located in Berkeley. Some of Golden Bears who stepped into the NBA are: Lamond Murray, Jason Kidd, Kevin Johnson, and Shareef Abdur-Rahim.
