UCLA’s athletics program is known as the Bruins and they are the team with the most regular season conference championships within the conference a 20-plus record that dates from 1945 until the most recent one in 2007.
The team competes in the NCAA Division and they play their home games at the Pauley Pavilion.
During the Coach Wooden era the team achieved in 12 season record a total of 10 titles including 7 titles in a row from 1967 to 1973.
Today, the Head Coach is Ben Howland who led the team to the Final Four during the 2006-2007 season and to the Pac10 tournament championship of the 2007-08 season and the 42nd bid to the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament in the history of the team.
The Bruins basketball team is known as the cradle of professional basketball players as there are more than 70 who played or still play for the top leagues among them we can mention: Reggie Miller, Jimmy Connors, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Walton and Jackie Robinson. |
