The University’s men's basketball team is known as the Cougars and they have won just two regular season conference titles in their 46 years with the Pac10.

Washington State Cougars’ main rivals are the Washington Huskies besides the Oregon Ducks and the Oregon State Beavers.

The team’s golden era was in the late 1970’s under the coaching of George Raveling who managed to transformed the team into one of the most successful ones in the Pacific 10 conference. 

Men's basketball is among the most popular sports at Washington State University and the team plays its home games at the Beasley Coliseum arena

More recently in 2007 the team engaged into an improving performance status under Head Coach Tony Bennett.

In the 2007-08 season, the Washington State Cougars overall game records stand at 24-8 and at 11-7 in the conference and the team was selected to play in the NCAA Tournament 2008 as an at-large bid in the #4 seed of the East Regional.
