The Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team is one of the charter members of the SEC, being member since 1932.
The Wildcats is one of the strongest teams in the conference and the winningest team in the history of college basketball, accomplishing the amazing amounts of 27 SEC tournament titles and 44 regular season championships.
The Widcats have reached the Final Four 13 times in their history. They have also been invited 7 times to the NIT tournament, winning 2 of them.
They're also the team with most appearances in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, getting to their 50th in this 2007-08 season and owning 7 tournament championships.
Last season the team reached the NCAA Tournament, despite the fact that injuries benched some of their main players; Coach Gillispie managed to make a vey good presentation on the championship. .
This 2008-09 season, the team has been upgraded to a good level, having multiple elite starters in order to avoid missing a player due to injury.
