The basketball team was part of the Southern Intercollegiate Association until 1921 then they moved for 12 seasons to the Southern Conference to finally join the Southeastern Conference.
A very important part of the Tigers’ history was back in 1935 during the Harry Rabenhorst era; the team won the forerunner of the NCAA Tournament and the mythical national championship. Additionally, the Tigers have reached four times the Final Four during the following years 1953, 1981, 1986 and 2006.
