The men's basketball team of the University of Tennessee is known as the Volunteers and they have been part of the SEC since 1932.

The Volunteers have won four conference post-season's tournaments and nine regular season conference championships, including the one of the current 2007-08 season.

This season the Volunteers will also appear for the 16th time in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament as they got an at-large berth and were selected as the #2 seed of the East Regional.

Coach Bruce Pearl did an outstanding job in the 2007-08 season, taking the team to the SEC regular season championship and number one ranking in the schools history.

Pearl is a recruiting master and thinks 2 years ahead every time the season ends, that’s the reason why Tennessee is the favorite to win the SEC this 2008-09 period.
