The men's basketball team of the University of Tennessee is known as the Volunteers and they have been part of the SEC since 1932.
The Volunteers have won four conference post-season's tournaments and nine regular season conference championships, including the one of the current 2007-08 season.
This season the Volunteers will also appear for the 16th time in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament as they got an at-large berth and were selected as the #2 seed of the East Regional.
Head coach Bruce Pearl has been the precursor of the recent success of the Volunteers, along with his assistants Tony Jones, Steve Forbes, Jason Shay and Ken Johnson formed the winning team that has brought back the Vols to the March Madness three years in a row, since coach Pearl first season with the team in 2005. |
