The men's basketball team of the Vanderbilt University is called the Commodores and they are charter members of the SEC.

Coach Kevin Stallings started the season very early, as many of his star players from their recent NCAA success are gone. Stallings has a very good recruiting class despite the fact that there are no seniors on the roster for the 2008-09 season.
