The Citadel Bulldogs formed its first men’s basketball team in 1913 with Coach J.G Briggs and had an overall record of 2-3.
One of the most notable coaches for the Bulldogs was Patt Dennis, who coached from 1993-2005 and had an overall record of 156-235.
Some of the all-time scorer leaders for Citadel was Regan Truesdale with 1,661 points in the seasons 1982-1985, Art Musselman who scored a total of 1,504 points from 1957-1960 and Rick Swing who scored 1,431 points in the seasons 1976-1979.
For the season 2006-2007 the Bulldogs in hands of coach Ed Conroy finished the season with an overall record of 7-23.
Coach Ed Conroy managed to put the team in a respectable national position during the 2007-08 season. The team ended the period in the top-10 among NCAA Division I institutions in 3-point field goals per game.
Conroy enters his third season this 2008-09 aiming to rank lower than 8th, with a good recruiting class.
