Nicknamed Demons, the Northwestern State University (NSU) basketball team has as mascot named 'Vic the Demon' and it's part of the Southland Conference (SLC). Their most important and longtime rival is Stephen F. Austin State University.
The Demons achieved to participate in two NCAA Tournaments and win them both, first in 2001 and then in 2006.
The white-and-purple won in two of the five times they went to Southland Conference finals (2005 & 2006), plus they became the SLC East Division Champions 2007.
Coaching the team is Mike McConathy and the assistants Mark Slessinger, Jeff Moore and Bob Austin. |
