The basketball program of the University of Texas Arlington are part of the NCAA Div. I in the West Division of the Soutland Conference (SLC)

The Mavericks participated for the first time in the 2008 NCAA tournament.

For the second consecutive year the Mavs have Scott Cross as their head coach, this season with the assistant coaches Reggie Brown, Derrick Daniels and Jason Porostovsky.

Texas-Arlington also participated in a National Invitational Tournament, back in 1981.
