The Alabama State Hornets have its first men’s basketball season in 1963. The Hornets joined the SWAC in 1982.
One of the greatest coaches for the Hornets was Rob Spivery, who coached for 9th season from 1996-2005 and guided the Hornets to two SWAC Tournament titles and one regular season championship.
Alabama's current Head Coach Lewis Jackson has a school record of 29-27 and this season have turn the program around.
One of the greatest leader-scoring for the Hornets were Willie Scott, who scored in a single season a total of 889 points and have the best career-scoring with 3,155 points in 103 games played from 1966-69.
