The Alabama A&M Bulldogs were part of the SIAC NCAA Division II from 1970 to 1996. In 1999 the Bulldogs joined the SWAC.
Coach Vann Pettaway has been the coach for the Bulldogs for 21th seasons from 1987 to the present. He has as an overall record of 407-214 with Alabama A&M. In his first season Coach Vann Pettaway guided the Bulldogs to the best season record ever in the history of the school with 29-3.
There has been notable players over the years, Terrance Vanlier in his career at Alabama A&M scored a total of 1645 points from 1998-2000, was named All SWAC in 1998-99 season and SWAC Player of the Year in 1999-2000 season. Another great player was Deartrus Goodmon who had a career-points of 2041 and is the player with most-career three-points in the Alabama A&M history with 311 three’s. |
During the season 2006-2007 the Bulldogs finished 10th (last place) in the SWAC standings with an overall record of 10-20. For the season 2007-2008 Alabama A&M are currently with an overall record of 14-15. They classified in 3th place in the regular season standings.
