The men's basketball team from the University of Denver (DU), also knowned as the Pioneers and have as mascot a hawk with red tale, named Ruckus.
During 1959 DU participates at the National Invitational Tournament (NIT) for the first time, then after 46 years in 2005 plays one more time a NIT.
Denver is a member of the NCAA Div. I in the Sun Belt West Division since 1999 and in 2005 managed to won this Conference title.
For the current season Joe Scott will be the head coach of the Pioneers, with the assistance of Mike McKee, Jon Jordan, and A.J. Kuhle.
For the season 2007-08 the Pioneers finished with an overall record of 11-19 and a conference record of 7-11, after their last game on March 5th.
