The New Orleans Privateers are competing in the Sun Belt conference in the NCAA Division I since 1976.
Starting with the season 2005/2006 the Privateers haven’t had a lot of luck. Due to the Hurricane Katrina the team had to move their studies, homes and sports to Tyler in Texas.
After they returned from Texas, their home court at Lakeland Arena was unusable, so they had to play in the Human Performance Center since then.
The 22-year-old McCalebb joined the team in the 2003/2004 season and is now playing in the senior class, considered as one of the best players in the nation. He completes his career as the Sun Belt's all-time leading scorer and will be very difficult to be replaced.
From 2005 to 2008 the team was coached by three different coaches. With the current Coach Joe Pasternack, who came last year, they might have a little more stability now.
