Two of the most famous and accomplished basketball players are Clyde Drexler and Hakeem Olajuwon.

Olajuwon was the first Cougar player to earn the outstanding honors at a NCAA Final Four, while Drexler became the first Cougar to earn all-conference honors three times in his career.

Both were picked in the NBA Draft and became part of the NBA’s 50 greatest players.

Later in his career Drexler became coach of the University during the 1997-1998 and 1998-1999 seasons.
