The school men’s basketball program is known as the Miners and they are currently coached by Tony Barbee.
One the most recognized UTEP coaches is Coach Haskins who led the team to the NCAA Final Four in 1966.
Amongst some of the UTEP’s most notably we can mention Bobby Joe Hill. The school has produced more than 25 great players that had made it to the NBA. One well-known miner and NBA player was Tim Hardaway.
Coach Barbee is been UTEP head coach since 2006 and they hold a current record of 16-8. The team plays its home games at the Don Haskins Center.
During the 2007-08 season, the Miners ended the season with an overall record of 19-14 and a conference record of 8-8. This season 2008-09, UTEP is looking for a better season with their new recruiting class.
