The University of Portland men's basketball team is called the Pilots and are members of the WCC since 1976.

The Pilots have been invited twice to the NCAA Tournament, the last one in 1996 when they won the WCC Tournament.

The Portland's head coach since April 2006 is Eric Reveno , former associate head coach of the Standford University.

The Pilots play their home games in the Chiles Center, wich hosted the WCC Conference Basketball Championship in 2007.

Last season 2007-08, Portland didn’t have the best season by finishing with a poorly conference record of 3-11 and an overall record of 9-22.  This season 2008-09, the Pilots is aiming for a better performance in the conference games.
