The University of Portland men's basketball team is called the Pilots and are members of the WCC since 1976.

The Pilots have been invited twice to the NCAA Tournament, the last one in 1996 when they won the WCC Tournament.

The Portland's head coach since April 2006 is Eric Reveno , former associate head coach of the Standford University.

The Pilots play their home games in the Chiles Center, wich hosted the WCC Conference Basketball Championship in 2007.
