Saint Mary's College of California men's basketball team is called the Gaels and they belong to the West Coast Conference since 1952.
The Gaels have won four WCC Regular Season Championships and one WCC Tournament Championship.
The team has appeared four times in the NCAA Tournament and their best performance was in 1959 when they managed to get to the Elite 8.
Saint Mary's head coach is Randy Bennett, who's entering to his 7th year with the program. In his seven seasons with the Gaels, Bennett has led the team to a 127-90 overall record and a 58-40 in the WCC. The 2007-08 season marked a memorable year for Saint Mary’s as Bennett guided the team to a record tying 25 wins with a 25-7 overall record and earned the school’s fifth NCAA Tournament appearance.
