The men's basketball team of the University of San Francisco is called the Dons and they have been with the WCC since 1952 and it has been the most successful team in the Conference.
San Francisco has won three national titles: two NCAA Championships in 1955 and 1956 and one NIT Championship in 1949.
The team has appeared 16 times in the NCAA Tournament and 5 times in the NIT, the last one recently in 2005.
With the WCC, the Dons have 16 regular season titles and 1 Tournament championship.
Since December, 2007, Eddie Sutton was named as interim head coach of the Dons, taking over for Jessie Evans who requested a leave of absence for the remainder of the 2007-08 season.
During the season 2007-08, Coach Eddie Sutton took the Dons to an overall record of 10-21 and a WCC record of 5-9. This season 2008-09, Sutton hopes for a better performance of his new roster.
